"Of all unimportant subjects, football is the most important" – Pope John Paul II

Review: This is the One

Daniel Taylor, a football writer for the Guardian, has written a very interesting portrait of Sir Alex Ferguson; This is the One, The uncut story of a football genius. The book is based primarily on press conferences over the course of two seasons, 2005-06 and 2006-07. Conferences that Ferguson regards for the most part as “a total waste of time”. I feared that the relating of one press conference after the other would make the book a dull read, but in fact it is quite the opposite. The portrait is full of nuances. When again and again Ferguson turns his rage on reporters you wonder to what extent this is a calculated ploy to control the media, or just a sign that he is s a bit of a bastard. A must read for anyone crazy enough about United to visit this blog.
