Preview: Arsenal – United

The line-up at Celtic Park is a good indication of Ferguson’s thinking ahead of the clash with Arsenal. I expect only four of the starters in Glasgow (Ferdinand, Vidic, Carrick and Ronaldo) to start at the Emirates. Van der Sar, Evra, Rooney and Berbatov are obvious choices for this kind of game. Brown or Neville will replace Rafael who was exposed defensively against Celtic. The graft and tactical awareness of Park is likely to be prefered to the (very) occasional brilliance of Nani.

Arsenal have been less than impressive in recent weeks and are facing an injury crisis with Van Persie, Adebayor and Eboué unavailable and Silvestre, Gallas and Walcott doubtful. It looks as if they could be seriously weakened in the key areas of attack and central defence. This is probably United’s best chance in a long time to win at the Emirates.

My line-up: Van der Sar; Brown, Ferdinand, Vidic, Evra; Carrick, Anderson; Ronaldo, Rooney, Park; Berbatov.
